To be healthy, there is really not so much to choose from, whether it is sleep, exercise, food, or work. We get to choose what and how much we eat, work, sleep, or exercise and when, if at all. We get to choose ( for the better part) what we will do or not do. That is unless we are in captivity or bedridden.
Our bodies have a height that stops growing, and then we have to keep our width from increasing beyond what is right for our height. This is the Basal Metabolic Index ( BMI), and there is a wide range of weight allowed within that height. Too much is overweight, and too less is underweight. Both work against our well-being. This means whatever we eat is either too much or too little for us, as is exercise and activity. That is provided we don't have a hormonal or genetic disorder, which should be treated as best possible.
Secondly, we need to get investigations done at regular intervals to really know where we stand healthwise. Blood work and a reliable doctor's checkup are the bare minimum. We cannot feel our way through to a blood disorder or any sickness. The symptoms and chronology are typical in most cases, but rare presentations also happen. For example, a heart attack is never sudden. It is waiting to happen when there is no way the heart can continue to pump non-stop against great odds.
Food should be balanced and healthy in daily life. That said, it is normal for people to call all the stuff they eat healthy. We visited a family for breakfast, where eggs were the issue of contention. The middle-aged man loved eggs in all forms, while his wife called for moderation. Both were stout and could lose about 10 kgs each to get fit. Eggs are healthy indeed, containing all nine amino acids and being great for building and repairing the body. But an overdose of eggs or any food, cumulatively, is dangerous to good health. Some alcoholics like to eat boiled eggs to stave off the intoxication caused by alcohol and give it a bad reputation.
In the Bible, we discover that our well-being comes from ADONAI. When we walk in obedience to His word and His will, then He takes responsibility to keep us in good health by staving off all diseases. ( Exodus 15:26, Proverbs 4:20-23).
As temples of the Living YHWH, we should be careful to glorify Him in our eating and choices by staying healthy. We can prevent sickness by eating right, doing adequate activity, and sleeping without snoring, enough to restore our tired brains and bodies by choosing not to worry but instead to plan and trust in YHWH with all our hearts.
